Displaying Education - Resumes

The educational part of some peoples resume is a touchy subject, many people are not quite sure what to include part of your resume. It does not What should you include in the educational section of your resume? This can be a real problem for people that don't have a lot of education or have to much eduction. Don't worry there are solutions to this problem.

Education does not always be formal education, education can be on the job training, seminars, & online courses.

Your education section should start with your most resent education.

University/College - List your most recent degree, state the name of the university,

  • University's/College's Name - Write the full name of your university/college.
  • Location - State where the general location of your university/college, you do not have to write the street address.
  • Degree - State the type of degree you received, don't use abbreviations unless you are sure that the person reading your resume will understand the abbreviations, remember that many times secretary's and assistants will decide which resumes the person hiring will choose from so you want to make sure your abbreviations are well known.
  • Major - If it is relevant state your major, if your major is not relevant, then don't state it.
  • Graduation Year - State the year you received your degree if this is something that will be in your favor.

Professional/Technical Schools/Programs - List all the professional/technical schools that you attended starting with the most recent first.

  • Name Of The School - State the name of your course or the profession that you learned.
  • Location - State the general area of the school, town, city, states, country. The full street address is not necessary.
  • Date Completion - State the year that you finished the school, if this is in your favor, if you finished your courses 20 years ago, and your looking for a job where age is a problem, you might not want to write when you finished the course.
  • Type of Certificate - State the complete name of the certificate or a degree write down full the name of the certificate or degree.
  • Length Time You Attended - If you attend the school for an extend period of time, then state how long the you attended the program.

Students - If your still in school then state all the relevant information, and state when you are going to graduate, and the degree/certificate you will be receiving.

High School - Many people ask if they should state there high school information, if you when to college/university then you do not have to put down your high school, if you did not got to university/college then you should state your information.

  • High School Name - Write the full name of your high school.
  • High School Location - State where the general location of your high school, you do not have to write the street address.
  • Diploma/Certification - Write that you received your high school diploma or received a certificate, depending on your country.
  • Major - If your major is relevant, to the job your applying for, then state your major, if your major is not relevant, then don't state it.
  • Year of Completion - State the year you received your degree/graduated if this is something that will be in your favor.
  • High School Location - Write the general location of the school, city/town, state and country if the school was located outside the country.

G.P.A - If you received a very high average grades) or your GPA (grade point average), you might want to state your GPA/average.

Awards/Certificates/Achievement - You you received an award that is relative or that could be relative to your receiving the job you are applying for then you should state the information on our resume.
